Credits & licenses

Last updated: July 6, 2026 · Version 1.0

🎨 In short: the illustrations and fonts offered in Ask N Pic are chosen on a single criterion, their license must let you embed and redistribute them in the file you export. We only keep resources under an open license (CC0, MIT, OFL). The file you download is genuinely yours, without a legal grey zone. This page documents its provenance and its authors.

1. Our commitment

When you export a composition, the file is yours: we transfer its rights to you the moment it's generated. For that promise to hold all the way through, every resource built into Ask N Pic is checked upstream. We only keep illustrations and fonts whose license explicitly allows two things: embedding in your file and its redistribution to a third party, for example to your client. In other words, we never hand you an asset you wouldn't be allowed to keep.

This choice has a direct consequence: we set aside resources, however excellent, whose license restricts redistribution. It's not a value judgment. A restrictive license is a creator protecting their work and deciding what is done with it, and we respect that choice rather than working around it. For a detailed look at the license families and what they allow, we've published a dedicated article: Free illustrations and fonts: what the licenses really allow.

2. Illustrations in compositions

The illustrations offered in compositions come from libraries published under an open license. Here are their authors and their licenses.

Resource Author License Source
Open Peeps Pablo Stanley CC0 1.0 openpeeps.com
Open Doodles Pablo Stanley CC0 1.0 opendoodles.com
Illlustrations.co Vijay Verma MIT illlustrations.co

In accordance with the MIT license, the author's notice is kept here: © Vijay Verma (Illlustrations.co), published under the MIT license. The CC0 licenses (Open Peeps, Open Doodles) require no notice; we credit their authors by choice, not by obligation.

3. Illustrations on the site and product

Some illustrations dress up our site and our communication materials, without ever being embedded in the files you export. They fall under a different use than the illustrations offered in compositions: we use them to improve the appearance of our own pages, which their license fully allows.

Resource Author License Source
unDraw Katerina Limpitsouni unDraw license undraw.co

The unDraw license requires no attribution for this use. We credit its author by choice, not by obligation.

4. Fonts

Ask N Pic's interface and website use fonts published under the SIL Open Font License (OFL), which allows commercial use and embedding in files.

Font Use License Source
DM Sans Interface and site OFL 1.1 Google Fonts
DM Mono Interface and site OFL 1.1 Google Fonts

The fonts offered inside compositions are selected on the same principle: only fonts under an open license such as OFL, which explicitly allow embedding in the file you export. So you walk away with a clean visual, without any dependency on an embedding license you don't hold.

5. Open-source software

Ask N Pic is built on many open-source software components, hosted on European infrastructure. We honor their respective licenses. This page lists the creative resources redistributed with your files, illustrations and fonts, which are the ones that concern you directly as a user.

The technical sub-processors and hosting (payment, email sending, analytics, hosting) are detailed in our privacy policy, in the section on data recipients.

6. Report an error

We care about keeping this information accurate. If you spot a missing attribution, a mislabeled license or a source error, write to us at contact@asknpic.com and we'll correct it as soon as possible.
